Fall Classic Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51 million viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this is the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in the country after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American viewership was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest playoff performance after 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different tongues.
